other gaps that we have regarding dtx and electrification. it's great that san francisco i think is really ahead of the curve amongst all the counties in really coming out to bat for both high-speed rail and electrification. it's really great to see that there's so much effort and energy moving forward on this. but i think as much as possible, until we come to consensus we should really leave all the options out there and open that we are evaluating everything. i know there will be a number of concerns about the 2 80 in the neighborhood that i represent in south beach and mission bay. i don't have a position either way. i really want to see what the studies look like, what the boulevard look like, the freeway and the growth and impacts we're expecting. but i also have heard some perspectives that we can underground 2 80 at 16th street while still keeping the 2 80 up as well. i just want to mike sure we have all of these options out of the table. ~ make sure the one thing i think we're all unified on is we don't want to see a double grade separation at 16th. i think everyone agree

of my successes here in san francisco is that i piloted a program with the juvenile corrections programs at a youth guided center. piloted a program called principle collaborative centers here for youth here in san francisco, helping youth out in bayview and hunters point area. people who are marginalized with a lot of disparity, helping them to get into different programs. from there, i worked with the adult populations here in san francisco for over the past 10 years, helping people to get into treatment centers throughout the city of san francisco. most of my work is very much targeted here in san francisco. i currently am a program manager here in san francisco. i also am a certified treatment counselor and currently attending college out at san francisco state university, applying for graduate school to become a social worker. i worked with the mayor with the court systems. aye i'm more familiar with the probation department. i am familiar with the reentry and i am very familiar with incarceration. i served time both in state and federal facilities in the united states. for me, it's

physician for the 1976 montreal olympics. after returning to san francisco in 1972, he joined a gay bowling league. this league inspired him to consider organizing a gay sporting event modeled on the olympics. following through with his idea, first the gay olympics was to take place in san francisco in 1982, but because of legal trouble he renamed the competition into the gay games and these events were a great success. and this is where tom also met lesbian athlete sara low enstein with whom they shared a child. their daughter, jessica, was laterborn in 1983. between returning to san francisco and the olympics, tom and his partner charles became the first gay couple to appear on the 1976 cover of people magazine and was also featured in the main article of that month's edition. in 1985 he was diagnosed of aids. he was able to participate in gay game, too, in 1986. even winning a gold in the javelin event. he lived until age 49, passing away on july 11, 1987. the city clinic in civic center was renamed to tom odell to honor his work in previous years serving as an employee there. and to spe

. it started at a home on mckinnon and then traveled around the corner to 3rd street here in san francisco's bay view district just before 1:00 this morning. it caused severe fire damage to three buildings. water damage to two homes. those are flooded. then one building suffered damage on the outside of it. all of these buildings are homes except for one. there is one business here. it's called the new club long island. all of the people escaped their homes safely but they say it was scary. >> went to bed and heard an explosion. we thought it was like shooting or something. we didn't pay attention to anything. and then woke up my wife and went and picked a window and i seen particles coming from the sky so i went to the other window and i saw the fire. i woke her up and got some clothes and got out as quick as we could. >> reporter: he says he is still looking for signs of his cat. but everyone got out okay. everyone was out by the time firefighters got here. two firefighters were hurt. one fell off his ladder. suffered bumps and bruises. another suffered from minor smoke inhalation and is

a restaurant there on the condition he got a building permit from the city of san francisco. and it seems rather ridiculous he would go and spend $100,000 and then afterwards the next door neighbor decides this is an illegal thing and the building department didn't even know that. it would seem correct that the city of san francisco would refund him the $100,000 that he spent to put a restaurant in there and this gentleman here his $40,000, a rather ridiculous system that the building department doesn't know the correct laws before he puts this in. and he wasn't going around anybody's back. he has a restaurant on 9th avenue and he was wanting to have a second restaurant. so, that's all i want to say. >> is there any other public comment? okay, seeing none, then, commissioners, the matter is yours. >> i guess unless there is any other comments, i guess i would move to grant the appeal and revoke the permit. >> would that be on the basis that there are no code complying plans? >> yes. >> okay. mr. pacheco, you heard that? >> yes. we have a motion from commissioner hurtado to revoke this per

on the internet about it, people suggested thises was another scheme by the mayor to build things in san francisco. i thank you for holding this hearing because i think it puts it in the right perspective. the driving issue here is transportation and how we can approve the regional transportation system. and as those of us who have gotten deep into this know that it would be -- there's the issue of the tunnel and how where the train goes underground and how that fits with the freeway and that's how the issue became [speaker not understood] as to what we do with the freeway. so, i think we need to continue to emphasize when we're talking about this very large and complex set of issues that the driver is transportation. it is not just the opportunity to develop more property. that's a secondary part. and if we do develop the property, it could generate revenues which can be reinvested in transportation. thank you. >> thank you, mr. haft. is there any other member of the public who would like to comment? seeing none, public comment is closed. i want to thank mr. ram and everyone, i see mr. light here
